Happy Birthday - Beaumont Style!

August 1st -- a nighttime post.

This was definitely not the birthday I had planned for my sweet Dale.  I could tell you about all the things that it wasn't, but I think instead of that, I will tell you all the things it was.

I got to spend the day with my sweetheart, and he was looking quite handsome in those snazzy scrubs.
He had his birthday breakfast in bed and later in the day, hand in hand, we took a leisurely walk all the while admiring the natural beauty of Michigan.  Okay, so the natural beauty was courtesy of the photographs lining the walls of his floor but hey...I'm not the outdoorsy type so that suited me just fine.

Erik came to the hospital early and brightened Dale up.  The boys (father and son) chatted work and family and history and all the manly man stuff only they can.  Together they make me laugh and I love seeing them together.  Sappiness aside, I am grateful for Erik and the relationship we have and more importantly the relationship he and Dale have.  And btw...his pup-sister Tikka is smitten with him <3

Early in the afternoon Dale was visited by a group of beautiful nurses -- blonde and brunette who surprised him by singing Happy Birthday and delivering a very special birthday cupcake.  Two stars to all the team at Beaumont for doing their best to acknowledge and celebrate my hubby on his birthday!

The rest of the day we spent waiting on the platelet and blood transfusions.  It was a long-long wait, and it was early evening before they got things flowing. It was slow.  Much slower than the previous platelet transfusion and though Dale was doing great at keeping in good spirits, I could tell it was wearing on him.  When we said goodnight around 8:30, the platelet transfusion was still going and after that, he still had to go through the blood transfusion.  It's going to be a late night for Dale.

Tomorrow, surgery is scheduled for 7:45am and they are coming to transport him to pre-op at 5:45am.  I am meeting Dale in his room at 5:30A.M. -- EARLY -- GAHHHH so we can go down to pre-op together and spend some quite time together before surgery.

So...I did it again, I blabbered on in a post.  Probably TMI so I will just wrap it up by
saying...please send all your good thoughts, prayers, vibes Dale's way tomorrow at TOO EARLY IN THE MORNING.  He is my superhero, my best friend and forever love.  Truly the very best person I know and is worthy of all the good stuff so let's do it together and cheer him on.  I know is grateful and so am I.
